Directions:
Ok, this is the way to make cannabutter, to be used in your everyday cooking...

Bring your water to a rolling boil, then put a small amount of butter in the water. Quickly, the butter melts, and mixes in with the water because the whole mixture is at a rolling boil.
Then put the grass in and boil it. (Of course, you will need to seperate all of the seeds first so you can plant them in the nearby park.) Now all the grass is riling around with the water and butter, and get this: The cannabinoids dissolve into the butter, while most of the nasty flavours and gook dissolve into the water. You need to stir the stuff regularly. After cooking the grass like this for a while (say, half an hour), your kitchen will really smell incriminating. Strain out the spent plant matter, squeeze all the juice out of it, and put the liquid in the fridge.

A few hours later, the mixture is cool enough that the cannabutter has solidified on the surface. It looks kind of scummy, but its just enchanted butter. Scoop it out and retain it in a bowl or a jar. The grass-nasty water is thrown out.

The reason is because he forgot to mention "Do not boil" that kills the med effect. Water temp is supposed to be 212 degrees, use thermometer! do this for 2hrs, stir every 15 Min. add water if nessesary, and scrape side of pan.

I've had a tough time finding any information on the solubility of salvinorin A, but I did find one report that mentions the extraction of the chemical in corn oil. This leads me to think that you COULD extract the active chemical in the salvia through the use of other lipids (butter), however salvinorin A, when taken orally, is held in the mouth so that the oral mucosa can absorb the chemical. When swallowed quickly, something in the gastrointestinal system deactivates the compound. Long story short, could you do the same with salvia? Yes, but you would have to sit with melting butter in your mouth. Sounds great right?

The problem with the way the first commenter suggested is that the nasty gross stuff stays in your butter and leaves any snacks you make tasting bad, depending on what fertilizer was used to make the plant grow and what other things the plant was exposed to... cooking it in with water and then seperating after cooling is a much tastier way of making canna-butter.

Here is a better way that will actually get you stoned after using the butter.
Take a double boiler, or a larger pot, add water to the larger pot then put a smaller pot on top. Melt your butter. For every stick of butter use at least a quarter oz of weed. You CAN use more, but this does the trick. Simmer the butter & cannabis for 20 to 25 mins. Then strain the mixture into a cup. Refrigerate, and viola! You have canna butter.

This has got to be wrong ... 1, you have to leave the water/butter/weed mix to simmer for like 24 hours and secondly the seperation of the water from the butter takes hours, if your planning on making this butter fast then i would go with a different method, if there are any.

if the site's intentions are to show me how to make this, why aren't there any detailed directions. we've all seen recipes. lot's of numbers and fractions. none here. crappy recipe!
