'Mint' Julep

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup fresh finely chopped leaves
|
about 2 cups crushed ice
|
1 cup (8 shots) kentucky bourbon
|

Directions:
|
1. In the saucepan, combine 1/2 cup water and the sugar and bring to the boil; simmer 3 mintues. Remove pan from heat and stir in the "mint". Let cool. Strain the syrup into a cup.
2. Divide the crushed ice among the 4 chilled tumblers. Divide the bourbon among them evenly. Stir 2 tablespoons mint syrup into each glass and garnish with mint or "mint"
