Are you looking to make some tasty treats? Bud butter/cannabutter is a vital ingredient in most marijuana recipes. Bud butter can be used in any recipe that calls for butter or oil.
½ cup (1 stick) salted butter
¼ ounce cannabis buds, finely ground
To make cannamargarine, simply substitute margarine for butter.
Grinder, medium saucepan, glass (with a tight fitting lid), spoon
- Melt the butter on low heat in a medium saucepan. Add the ground buds (a little bit at a time), and simmer on low heat for 45 minutes, stirring frequently. You should see small bubbles slowly forming at the surface.
- Strain the butter into a glass with a tight-fitting lid using a metal strainer. Press the cannabis against the metal strainer using the back of a spoon to release the excess butter. When you’re done, throw the leftover cannabis in the compost.
- You can use the cannabutter immediately or store it in the refrigerator for later. You can easily scale this recipe up for larger batches of cannabutter. The general rule is that 1 pound of butter (4 sticks) can absorb 1 ounce of cannabis. For larger quantities we recommend that you simmer the butter for 60 minutes to get the maximum results!
Note: For medical patients, we recommend using 2 ounces of cannabis for each pound of butter, effectively doubling the strength of the cannabutter.
